The Free Cities of Maeron

The Maeronesse seperated from the ancient Turathi long before the first paragons fought the Vilnach. Situated on the Eastern shores of Esor, the free cities of Maeron hug the thin sliver of land and islands on the eastern end of the wyrmhyde mountains. Since they’re inception, the Maeronesse have never boasted great warriors, scholars, or merchants. As such, that have neither important for conquest, or pivotal in the defense of the realm. As tensions have ebbed and flowed, the Maeronesse have remained aloof and have tended not to become involved in the affairs of other nations. As such, they have become a haven for exiles, outcasts, and the socially disaffected. They have adopted an official policy of neutrality in the affairs of civilization, and while some argue for the more direct involvement in foreign relations, many are content to play moderator and observer to the outside world.

The story of the Elven gods, when told by the present day elves, follows many forms, and reflects much of their current culture, but each follows a similar theme. Some say the disciples were cast out, disgraced by the gods. Others say those that left were the last survivors of a dark curse.
